Picture Perfect
Does this look like a perfect evening for golf or what? There were actualy gale force winds blowing, but I loved the sky and the just lit skyscrapers.

Summertime!
Today got off to a slow start temperature wise, but it heated up real nice! These are my dirty feet at the end of the day. To the chagrin of my husband, they look like this most of the Summer. (at least they don't have gum stuck to them)
Happy Memorial Day!
I can't wait for the comments tomorrow.

Sunday Downtown
He caught my attention immediately and as soon as I looked through the lens, he turned and looked at me.

Farmer Jane
I pulled over to the side of the road and put my emergency blinkers on to take a few shots of this farmer overlooking her land in White Bear Lake this afternoon. It had just started to rain and I could smell the earth. This just feels peaceful.

Tennis Anyone?
This is my son working on his tennis skills in the street earlier today. I love the shot in color just as it was taken, but I thought it would be fun to emphasize the ball coming straight for my camera lens. The only thing you're missing with it in black and white are the bright orange Crocs he's wearing, three sizes too big!

Serenity
Does anyone else find this photo calming? The lakes were packed with people tonight and I took lots of shots in a little bit of time, but this one with no people and the sun setting on the red ball was my favorite. It's so simple, it feels like a big exhale to me.

Eunice
If you have arachnophobia, you won't like this one! This little lady was around before and I took a few shots but ended up going with another photo that day. When I saw her again this morning I moved her to the mirror so I could get the reflection and the light from the vanity. She brought some of her web with her as you can see.

Help Is Here
This is my 6th Tuesday shooting for the Northside. Sunday's tornado gave me plenty of material to work with, but I'm tired of posting depressing photos and/or captions, so I had to choose something as uplifting as I could. To me this feels like the heroes are in the neighborhood! You can see the broken windows and the toppled trees, but the overall feeling is of hope because of the firefighters.

My Heart Aches
I took lots of shots today. Some better than this. None of them seemed to stand out like the simplicity of this one.
Some of you know that my Grandma has been very sick and her health has been failing rapidly. All of you who follow my blog saw the photos from the tornado that destroyed my Mom-in-law's neighborhood in North Minneapolis yesterday.
Today I went to a funeral of a friend who died this past Saturday, too soon and without warning.
All of this makes me acutely aware of a higher power at work and this shot comforts me just a little bit.

Gone
I am posting 3 photos today because one just won't do the job. A tornado touched down in North Minneapolis this afternoon and hit my Mother-in-law's house and neighborhood. I have never seen devastation like this in person. I took about 200 photos, all incredibly horrible. Every block looks like this for miles each way.Houses are leveled, trees are down by the thousands, and cars are smashed everywhere.
Mom's fine. God bless everyone in North Minneapolis.

Paradise By The Dashboard Lights
I may really be showing my age with the title of this photo, but I couldn't resist. For those of you who have no idea what I'm referencing, it is an old song by Meatloaf that I have very fond memories of. This shot is the dashboard of a 1957 Packard. I don't go weak in the knees over old cars, but even I know this one's a beauty!

Lit From Above
This is a feather and wheat caught in action! Or..... the wheat is peaking out from the feather to see if the coast is clear! Ok, I've had a really long day and I'm a bit punch drunk at this point. Whatever you may see in this shot, I hope you think it's at least interesting. I think it's quite pretty.

Mirror, Mirror
It's a building inside a building, inside a building! This group of offices always grab me and tonight I was in back of it at the right time. The sun was setting and the clouds were reflected as well. I like the colors and all the different angles. There you have it.

What Am I?
Any guesses? Look close. Hint: this is usually bright red, and all of you have seen it before. This is kind of fun! I wasn't very happy with any of the shots I took today, but I like this game of guess so much, it actually makes me feel better about the photo. Give up?
It is a row of carts at Target. I took it from inside the store on the floor. Looking outside so the light made all the shadows.
Now, can you all imagine what the employees and shoppers were thinking?

Go Bulldogs!
This is my 6th Tuesday shooting for the Northside of Minneapolis, and my favorite I've submitted so far. This is the North Commons Bulldogs baseball team. They just got done with practice and were enjoying ice cream bought from their coach when I showed up. I couldn't have found a happier group of kids or more willing subjects.

Riding Through The Blossoms
This was taken at Lake Calhoun tonight around 8:30. The sun was setting and lots of people were out. I climbed on top of our truck to get above the traffic and started shooting through the flowering trees. It all came together in this shot.
Summer is getting close. I could smell it.

It'a A Big One!
Fishing opener weekend in Minnesota. I saw a few ladies on the shore casting their rods with the sun going down in front of them. (I SAID SUN!) I love the silhouette of this shot and the sparkles on the water.

Flower Shadows
I can't go outside to take a photo because it's raining and I had to post early because I'm going on an overnight and I've learned from my last traveling experience. The light causing the shadow isn't sunshine, it's a spotlight, but I liked the effect.
Today marks day 100 of my blogging adventure. Thanks for all the support!

80's Revival?
This is a close-up of yours truly. Yes. Those are permanent wave rollers. Call me crazy, but in my quest to have long enough hair for a ponytail this Summer, I decided to go with some curl.
I turned the photo to sepia for a bit of a retro look. Yes. I look marvelous!
Day 98
Blogger was down yesterday and I couldn't post. I stayed up until midnight and kept checking to see if it was back up, but to no avail. I decided not to post a photo now for yesterday. I can't get the correct date on it so I will archive the one I was going to use with yesterday's date on it and post for today.
Thanks to those who checked in with me to make sure I was OK.

SOAP FACTORY
One of my favorite movies is Fight Club. For those of you who have seen it, I will say no more. For those of you who haven't, you need to. I saw the letters lit up last month and have been thinking about going back ever since. A storm was rolling through tonight and made the sky perfect for the shot.
I'm pretty sure Edward Norton is in there.

Raindrops Keep Falling. . . . . . .
We are officially saturated! My basement flooded this morning and this is all I saw all day long. I took this at the end of my driveway in the pouring rain, but it may as well have been taken in my laundry room!

Happy Mother's Day
Just when everything turns green, I mess with it!
I took this shot around 4:00 - right after the rain stopped and the colors were nice and saturated. I've been playing around with infrared and this one worked so well with black tree trunks and budding leaves everywhere. This is today's post because most Mothers will love this.

Uptown
For many of you this will come as a surprise, but 25 years ago I would have fit in this photo perfectly (remember, Mom?)
Put my love of photography and hair together, and this becomes one of my favorite shots!

Sea Lion
He posed for me!
There was a pretty big crowd at the watering hole for this sea lion at Como Zoo today. When I found a spot, he got right in front of me and started showing off. I couldn't resist this shot of him basking in all of the attention.

Dreaming of Miami
Today was "warm" out. It was 60 degrees. I wore a jacket everywhere and cannot be convinced this is Spring. This is what I want to see everyday for the rest of my life. Too much to ask?
Thank you to the Conservatory for making everything right in my world for an hour this afternoon.

The Mechanic
I went to get my oil changed today and asked this guy (Frank) if I could shoot while he worked. He was awesome and said he didn't mind, so we both went about our business. I took about 80 shots, many with his face showing, but I thought this one told the story best.
Sorry frank, but it's perfect!

Here Goes......
I certainly never thought I would post anything like this, but it has the coolest vibe......The shadows from the window, the dust on the old TV screen, the vignette around the edges. My husband opened the blinds and threw the covers off me this morning and I instantly asked him to grab my camera when I saw my reflection.
He thinks I may lose some followers over this photo. I hope he's wrong and all of you give me a little credit for the guts to put it out there.
