Autumn Leftovers

This was not frozen for long after another 40 plus degree day in Minnesota! This is the first photo I took all day on an early morning walk. Turned out it was the best of the bunch.

Art Shanty

This shot is of an ice buckle on Medicine Lake. No one built it, it just froze like this. I got down on my knees at one end and snapped the kids playing inside.

Icebreaker

So I drove to the winter carnival again today to see the sculptures. I parked. I walked to Rice Park. I took out my camera. I took one shot and my battery died! My extra battery was at home plugged into the wall charging. I drove home, hopeful that this one photo was as cool as I thought it was.

I really like it! It is a close up shot of the ice wall with the lights on the other side. Aren't the cracks awesome?

No More Photos!

This is at the Midtown Market tonight for the Chinese New Year celebration. Although I got some good photos of the Chinese lion dance and parade, it was this shot that I kept coming back to.

Wall of Ice

First day of the St. Paul Winter Carnival and it was 41 degrees! Good for Tracy, but not so much for the ice sculptures. This was the only one standing - it is an entire wall the length of one whole block downtown. As I was taking pictures, one of the giant snowflakes from the top crashed down and the entire wall was dripping.
I will try again tomorrow!

Still Until Spring

I took a few shots of this broom left outside at my Parent's house last week when there was no snow. I liked it enough then to take another look today.
It has an easy feel to it - like the chores can wait until a warmer day......

I was so interested to see if Tuesday's blog photo was indeed a flower, I went to a few florists today to get an answer!
I still don't know, and it matters none, but I did find more!
I think the reason I'm obsessed with the stuff
is because it looks like the fluff that grows from the head of a Jedd!

Dedo

So....I lost the photos I shot today when my computer crashed about an hour ago. I had to run around the house taking pictures that would work in a pinch, and am now using my Husbands laptop.

This is a gremlin that protects our house from all evil. His name is Dedo.

Two Dumb Asses and A Dog

Every year fools fall through our many lakes and ponds before they are fully frozen.
Today is only the 13th day that it has gotten below 32 degrees since December 1st.

Your Majesty

This might just be my single favorite photo of the last year.  Obviously, I was at the zoo today!
I captured this behind glass, with a glare, and LOTS of people around me. I think the movement adds to the look of the majestic beast.

Anyone out there know what Van Halen's son Wolfie looks like? He doesn't only rock the drums, he plays a mean game of pool!

Half Frozen Falls

What a difference a year makes. Last year around this time, I shot the same waterfalls from the inside out. They were frozen solid and glowing aqua from the sun shining in. Today, they are mostly liquid and and not very safe for climbing.

Prettier last year, but I'll take the weather this year!
